Microneedling Acupuncture, also called percutaneous collagen induction therapy, offers patients advanced technology in Acupuncture. It offers a safer non-toxic option for Facial Rejuvination, Hair Loss and Acne that current harsh treatments, such as Botox or Microdermabrasion cannot offer. Additionally, this technology offers another avenue for treating complex chronic pain conditions, like TMJ and Migraines. Dao Integrated Health is excited to start offering this service to our patients.

What is Microneedling?

Microneedling is performed using a handheald, drum or pen shaped device that is electrically powered with tiny needles that make preciese microscopic punctures into the skin. Just like traditional acupuncture, it stimulates the skin to repair through a process called dermal remodeling and produces new collagen. Collagen are the elastic fibers that make the skin smooth, tight, and youthful looking. As we age, collagen in the skin starts to decline.

Are there side effects?

There can be temporary side effects, such as, short-term swelling, redness, and possible skin flaking. It is recommended to not weart make up or spend long periods of time in the sun for the first 24 hours after treatment. Our office will provide Stem Cell and other topicals to assist in the healing process.

Microneedling is not recommended during an active breakout of Acne or oral herpes. So plesase tell your Acupuncturist if you are having a breakout and we can reschedule your appointment to commence afterwards.

Facial rejuvenation treatments:

  • promote local circulation of blood and lymph

  • naturally stimulate collagen production

  • improve muscle tone to lift sagging, drooping skin

  • tighten pores and promote skin elasticity

  • reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, blotchiness, inflammation, facial puffiness, acne, light scarring, age spots

  • result in overall more youthful, toned, glowing skin.

During the treatments, hair-fine needles are inserted on the face and head, as well as peripheral regions of the body to further move “qi” and blood and promote internal physiological balance. Clients report feeling very relaxed after treatments and often benefit from improvement of other health areas such as digestion, energy levels, overall body circulation, etc. Traditional Chinese medicine understands the interconnectedness between different organs and systems of the body, for a truly holistic and inside-out approach to visible beauty and vibrant well-being.

Facial rejuvenation treatments are between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours- and can include needling, gua sha massage, and cupping; and it is recommended to have 1-2 sessions per week. Clients often notice good results in a few sessions, but typically the desired outcome with more lasting results is achieved in a complete course of 12 sessions. Effectiveness will also depend on the individual’s health, nutrition/hydration, lifestyle, and how well they take care of themselves.

*Facial rejuvenation acupuncture treatments are contraindicated for pregnant women, anyone with acute migraines, bleeding or bruising issues, or acute herpetic outbreaks on the face.
